I want to make a Concert Pineapple ukulele and I'm wondering what kind of wood should I use and where can I get all the parts? Or should I just get the Hana Lima 'Ia ukulele kit and get the Pineapple Concert ukulele plans?

The standard advice on this forum, with which I concur, is if you are truly new to building, then start with a kit. Hana Lima, Stew-Mac, Pete Howlett are all good sources. If you have access to a shop and woodworking experience, then you can try it on your own. There are some books available on uke building that can get you started. It is hard to give any more complete advice without knowing more about your background and what tools you have.

the fretwire is a joke compared to all the other issues of precision and craftsmanship imho.

i know a guy with a "how to" cd booklet detailing the all the ins and outs from the tools needed to advanced methods, and even troubleshooting. I think its only a few dollars if you are interested.
