How hard is it to get the wooden pegs or tuners for old ukuleles? When you see some of the older antique ukuleles for sale, one or two of the tuners are frequently missing. Where do you go for parts of this kind?

i've heard of folks going to violin shops and buying them and then trimming them down to fit their ukes.

or, if you handy with tools, you can make your own.

violin tuners

I use violin tuners, even on my new ukuleles. They come in the following sizes: 4/4, 3/4, 1/2, 1/8, 1/16.

If I had a vintage uke that was missing original pegs, I'd probably pay a violin shop or luthier to install Peghed tuners. I have a set on my Glyph and they are the BEST uke tuners I've ever seen or heard of and best of all, the look like typical ungeared friction pegs. I'm a player not a collector so complete authenticity or originality isn't a big deal for me.

Thanks to everybody! Sounds like it will not be that hard to supply tuners if they are missing. Much appreciated.
