!hen you’re sad, there is something soothing about listening to really sad music. Look, I know there are lots of really bad things that happen to people that make my little despair over a lack of meaning in my life seem like stupid s**. Those really bad things often get immortalized in song. Listening to sad songs, we can either relate to the emotions expressed or realize that the source of our sadness is NOTHING compared to what the singer/songwriter went through!
For example, Eric Clapton lost his four year old son who died in a domestic accident. He wrote Tears in Heaven afterwards. I cover it here. I felt way better after doing so.
IN the realm of sad songs, can you think of one that doesn't "cheer you up" per se, but somehow you feel better after hearing it?
