I just finished cleaning up an old S.S. Stewart Collegian banjolele. I added new aquila banjolele strings, replaced the friction tuners, and added a strap nut. I like it a lot, but I can't figure out if I want to keep it with the idea of a new mainland concert coming out soon. For now, though, I can't put it down.

Keep it, they're awesome.

I've got a similar banjo uke, just a different color. From what I could find researching, these were actually made by Slingerland. The model was called "May-bell," but Slingerland sold a lot them out to various distribution companies who often put their own label on them.

Yours looks to be in great condition, cherish it.

On a side note, I had to build a compensated bridge to get the intonation acceptable. Hows yours? There's a thread about my bridge here:

I saw that thread yesterday night and was in awe of that little bridge you made. There's no way I could do anything like it, great job! Fortunately, while the intonation on mine isn't perfect, it seems to be good. I'm just a hair outside of green here and there on my tuner, but for something more than 3 times older than me, I can't complain in the least

I've got three banjo-ukes at the moment and play one of them alot. For some songs they add just the right touch. If you start playing with others, the banjo-uke is loud enough to be heard even with a bunch of guitar players. If you play with other ukuleles, it will stand out but still blend in with the other ukes.
