Though I enjoy strumming a good song on the ukulele, nothing is as satisfying as picking/melody work. Both in terms of the validation and satisfaction for what I can accomplish on the Uke, as well as just the sound. If you haven't gotten much into pickin, I strongly encourage you take the plunge. A great way to start is with a book that I recently ordered and have started working with: John King's Classical Ukulele book. http://www.fleamarketmusic.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=170 Great book and some great songs.
It includes songs such as "Ahe Lau Makani', which was the Member video of the week a few weeks ago: http://ukuleleunderground.com/2009/08/31/member-video-of-the-week-83109/
John's tab makes these relatively easy to learn. The satisfaction you'll get is worth the effort.
