A wonderful surprise as Nobu and Hitomi Kato cam to visit me today at the shop/ Here we are holding a Dave means custom and of course a Kiwaya..

japanese made, they have some killer sounding lams like their laminates supposedly stack up to or surpass other asian solid wood instruments in sound and projection. And they make a really good martin clone. There laminate is superthin but would hold up equally to a thicker solid wood in durability.
 
not all the kiwyas are lam the ks line is the kt line 4 5 6 7 are solid mahogany

I'd still love to have a K-Wave Tele! (in butterscotch, or better yet, black, if they made one) Are they still making those?
