So, I thought I'd make a thread of some of my helpful how to's, I'm going to have them on my site when its up but you'll get a sneak peak since you're all my friends =p

1. How to make your own PDF tabs

A. Download TablEdit here
http://www.tabledit.com/download/index.shtml
B. Switch the instrument to ukulele by changing the strings in the score -> instrument -> Tuning

2. How to make your own CD from youtube videos
A lot of people only have youtube videos up, you may want to make a CD to listen to for it, or if you have a bunch of youtube videos you want to make into a CD this is good too.

A. Download Mozilla if you don't have it already.
B. Download the add-on download helper for mozilla here
http://www.downloadhelper.net/
C. Go to whatever website (like youtube) that streams FLV files and click on the download helper icon on your toolbar
D. select whichever files "looks right" (it will normally have .flv at the end of the name or have the file name in it)
E. Download VLC media player here
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
F. go to Media -> Convert Files, click add and select the downloaded file, hit convert/save, change the profile under settings to audio Mp3, select the file destination and make sure the file name ends in .mp3 (it won't recognize it as an Mp3 if you do
G. Burn to a CD!

3. How to get a gig
A. Develop a set (probably at least 30 minutes) of songs that you can play in your sleep
B. go to a variety of bars/retirement homes/wherever you'd like to play
C. Ask the first employee you see if the manager is there
D. if he/she is, then ask if they're interested in having you perform, make sure either you or they have the equipment for it.
E. Play the best part of your set for the manager
F. If he likes it, get ready for the show, if not move on to the next venue

4. How to get on the radio
A. Find the nearest college station (most major stations will stick to their on sets and never ever deviate for any reasons)
B. Get on to their website and see if it lists DJ's or music coordinators (if you can find a person doing both it's ideal)
C. Go to the station and give as many applicable people the CD as possible.
D. Have a friend call the station and request it during the hours of whoever(s) you gave the CD to.

sidenote: if it works once, it'll probably work again, you can go out to a restaurant, ask the manager if they'll change to that station, you get to have a meal and listen to yourself on the radio =D

I've got another guide for making your own website without having to know code, but that would just make websites to compete with UU which I doubt the mods would be happy about.

In any case, if you have any guides you can make (preferably uke related) then feel free to post.
