Uke Minutes 62 - Power Chords

Hey everyone! This week's episode of Uke Minutes is here!

Uke Minutes 62 - Power Chords

This is the last transmission from the beautiful island of Kauai before we head off to meet up with you guys for UU Tour 2009! For the next couple weeks, we'll be updating the website from the freaking Road. Also the UU Store will be closed, so if you want to pick up anything before we jet, place your order THIS WEEKEND or forever hold your peace (forever as in, until we get back).

N E Ways. Got questions about this episode?? Thoughts, philosophical musings, suggestions on good songs to practice power chords on? Post them below!!

I was wondering if there are any other chord shapes for power chords other than the one shown

Yup there's another power chord shape, but it's noticeably harder to hold - for example, if you wanted to play a G power chord with this alternate shape, it would be 0235 (the frets you hold, in GCEA order). This in itself isn't too tough, but if you wanted to slide the shape up two frets to do an A power chord, it becomes 2457.

Instead of being based on the bottom string (where the note that you're playing on the bottom string is the name of the power chord), this shape is based on the top string. You can try it out, but try not to hold it for too long; hand fatigue can be a killer. :D

Thanks anaka, I found another one, it might be slightly easier to hold. It's an A (2400). Obviously, if one wants a B, they play 4622
