I recently bought an Oscar Schmidt OU5 and have had a lot of fun playing it.
The GHS strings that came on it seemed really cheap, so I ordered a new set of Aquila strings to replace them.
I'm absolutely floored by the difference!
The GHS strings made it play and sound like a toy. I just can't believe that changing the strings could improve an instrument so much.

Yup, it's hard to believe until you experience it. Some manufacturers have wised up and started putting good strings on their new ukes. My Lanikai came with Aquilas. My guess is that it improves their sales significantly, especially in stores where people play instruments before they buy them. It definitely affected my choice.

Look out, now you've entered the discussion about which of the "good" strings you prefer. After using the Aquilas awhile, I moved on to D'Addarios and now am using Worth clears. Right now I am a big Worth fan. Use the search function to get lots of opinions.
