I'm looking for some strings to replace my aquilas.

I'm looking for something comfortable with a nice sound.. One of my my friends own a Lanikai CK-C, and his strings feel awesome(like they are smooth and "soft") and sound good. He says there are stock and doesn't know what brand they are. Would anyone happen to know?

Also how are worth browns? In terms of tonality and feel?
And.. whats the difference between wound and unwound?

I have only been playing for a month, and I only know Worth Browns (LT) and Aquilas. The Worth Browns seem thinner and hurt my fingers a LOT, almost like they are cutting, even now that I have calluses. I like the feel of the Aquilas much better. I only have very low-level laminate "cheap" ukuleles, so what I tell you on sound, keep that in mind. The Worth Browns don't do anything for my Mahalo soprano (and I intend to put Aquilas on that as soon as I get a few extra $$); but my Makala with Aquilas sounds very nice. I don't know how to explain that other than it sounds like a ukulele should sound, IMO. :)

I will be watching this thread to see what others say, as I'd like to know what other strings are out there that are "comfortable".

This is a frequently asked question and there are dozens of threads regarding strings and what's best to use. The bottom line really comes down to personal preferance and take into consideration sound, playability and comfortability. Some of the more popular strings members seem to favor more are Worth, Aquila, D'Addario and classical guitar sets from Savarez and D'Addario. The search function is a valuable tool and will assist you. Here's a few to start off . . .

What strings are Lanikai's 'stock' strings...

I've seen Lanikai 'uku come with GHS strings. And I have a spruce top tenor that came outta the box with Aquila.

If your friend's strings are black, they're probably the GHS, if they're white, they're probably Aquila. If they're purple, they're D'addario T2s. If they're red, they're Kala. If they are all different colors, then they're probably a mixture of makes. If they're invisible, then they're magic strings and I'm not at liberty to say anthing more about them.

My experience has been the exact opposite. I much prefer the feel of the Worths over the Aquilas.

also thanks bases on what you said, they must be GHS.

My husband has a Lanaki LU21-C, and we think the stock strings on those were aquilas.
