Gator Headstock Width

I'm starting to look at hard cases and was wondering if someone who has a Gator could measure the actual usable headstock width. The manufacturer says 3.25", which seems like it rules out pretty much everything that has geared tuners that stick out to the side.

(And on the other hand, the Lanikai cases look pretty good and I could buy a few for the price of a Gator...)
