First, I've started using rudimentary molds. Prior to this I kinda let the bent sides "float" a little, and settled for slightly different length bodies. No more of that! Now I'm forcing the sides out where they should be when gluing the neck & sides up and when gluing the back on. This stuff is for concert size - soprano and "prim" shape to follow. Much better :)

Next, after the second or third time I accidentally sawed all the way through a fretboard while slotting for frets I decided to make a proper jig. I modified a Harbor Freight flush cut saw by sticking a wood "back bone" on it. That gives me a fixed depth of cut. Then I added that clamp to hold the board down while sawing. I print (from AutoCad) full size paper layouts of the different scale lengths and tape those down in the jig. Then it's just a matter of moving the fret board to each spot, clamping it down, and making the cut. Should speed things up and increase quality.
