anyone used this? do you like it? i have a passive under-saddle piezo pickup. what do you think? would i need any extra equipment?

I've never tried it. There are some reviews online, as well as a bit more info in this thread (http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15638&highlight=lightsnake).

but would I need a preamp since I only have a passive? or does the software with the cord amp it after the fact? i believe it comes with a trial of Sony acid".

There's a level booster housed in the wire itself. It's not really a preamp, but the level output should be fine.
