View Full Version : Finger picking tune for low G

As you can see from my last post, I just put low G strings on my Uke for the first time. Is there a nice finger picking tune for low G someone can recommend. I tried a couple of tunes I have down for high G but it sounds off when played on low G strings. I tried Seeso's Hotel Calif but it's too advanced for me. Mahalo

Roger Ruthen's site has quite a bit of stuff for low G (high G and baritone, too; he even has harmonica tabs!), all arranged by level of difficulty. There's classical, traditional, folk, Christmas... really something for everyone at all levels. :)

there's gotta be a finger picking tab of Iz's White Sandy Beach out there. I do my own version so I don't know if its exact but IMHO it sounds good in low G... pretty easy (more chord picking than strictly picking-only, if that makes sense) and it seems to be a crowd pleaser. I'm not an advanced uker by any stretch of the imagination but I have found that most of the picking pieces I've learned (not many) can be modified to accommodate low G... come to think of it, a lot of the ones I know now utilize mainly the other strings (CEA)... hmmmm... that may be because I'm not tackling harder picking pieces. :o
