I'm not a big fan of pickups on acoustic instruments, although will do so when need to stay up to volume in a band scenario... I'm looking to start some song recordings with my new uke and interested in any tips on mic'ing techniques or microphone types. I'm going to start with the assumption that it's similar to a guitar, so I'll start with my trusty SM57 and play around with placement, etc. Or... is there something I should know beforehand?
