View Full Version : Hankulele

So a friend and I have been wrestling with the idea of making what I like to call a "hankulele." The idea is that we make a Hank drum (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpMS15kJyOY) and then attach a neck and strings to it. We have been talking about where to attach the neck to work best, and other things like that, but I am mostly concerned about the thickness of the tank. Will it vibrate at all with the strings?

i dunno man, nylon strings are pretty gimpy and a propane tank is certainly very stout.

I've had plans for about a year to make a hank drum...never have managed to try yet.

What about if we used steel strings?

I've never owned a resonator, so I don't really know how those work, but is this somewhat the same principle?

What about a big ol' hank bass? That would be really cool!

It sounds like my friend wants more of a hank guitar anyways.

This is how I envision it to be like:

What if I tuned the bass to ukulele tuning, but an octave (or two) lower? Steel strings and the works.
