Hello all!

It's my first post, and my first uke! I live in Brisbane where the range of ukes for sale in the shops is very very limited. Luckily, I found out about Musicguymic, and I ordered from him this beautiful thing:

Of course, it's not the fanciest of ukes that are out there, but I'm very happy with it. Now I have to learn how to play it...so lots of fun ahead.

Cheers!

Welcome! Your new uke looks very nice and your pictures have an artistic quality to them. They look like they could go right into a magazine!

Some nice composition to the photos. I have an all mahogany Ohana (same as yours--Asian factory built, good price, nice ukes--just different companies), and I enjoy it immensely. Have fun!

Congratulations! Nice uke.

I have the same model and I love it. When you get around to a string change, consider trying Worth BTs (browns). I find they sound very nice indeed on the mahogany Kala. A tad less brash than Aquilas, very musical tone but still good volume.

Thanks! Yeah, I've heard good things about the Worth strings. What about the D'Addario classical guitar uke strings that Jake uses? Have you tried those on your Kala Mahogany tenor?

I did try the D'Addarios. I think I posted my reaction then... I was totally disappointed. They were quiet and bland. They may be great on many ukes, but sadly not on mine. D'Addario make my favourite mandolin strings, so I had high hopes.

Aquilas are OK, nice and loud, but they're a tad brash. For me the Worths are just perfect. Ken Middleton suggested them, and his advice was spot on.
