View Full Version : New Aquila Strings

Hi everyone,
I know that I'm mostly preaching to the converted here, but I'm sure there's plenty of beginners who have read loads about slapping on new strings. Well, take it from me it really is worth it.

I started playing about 10 months ago with a cheap 'Lucky' ukulele and haven't looked back I now own a 'Hudson' tenor (very sweet sound) and a fun Mahalo Telecaster. The latter 2 ukes sound fine with the strings they cane with, but the original cheapie has never bee amazing. Yesterday I bought Aquila Nyglut strings from Gamlins in Cardiff, UK and hey presto the thing sounds amazing.

To cut a long story short - if you've read this forum and never taken the new string plunge, go for it.

Thank you.:)

Definitley good advice. Quality strings can make a cheap uke sound lot better.

I got the Uke brand wrong - it is a 'Lazy' ukulele. Bought for 16 last December - the best musical purchase I'd made for years up to that point. I have a music degree, but the uke has taught me more about chords and harmony than any other instrument/teacher.

I'm with you on this. Aquila strings made a world of difference on my cheapie Mahalo tenor. A very worthwhile investment.
