Looking for much aloha by someone to help me learn ukulele. Have a nice new tenor and want to grab it by the neck, finger its frets and strum its strings!

Any suggestions?

Mahalo.

This Forum and Youtube are the best place to start. Or Are you trying to find an instructor locally?

Agreed. There's a lot of video lessons here on the homepage (http://www.ukuleleunderground.com)!

Here's a link to some beginner lessons:

Good luck with finding a local tutor though! :)

I used to jam uke a little with the guys at Elephant Music in PB. I'm sure they do uke lessons.

gotime49,

San Diego has a very active uke society that meets weekly.

http://launch.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ukulele_Society_of_America/?v=1&t=directory&ch=web&pub=groups&sec=dir&slk=7

All ages and skill levels are welcome.

They were featured in the New York Times recently. Looks like they have a lot of fun. :)

a lot or most uke players in south san diego are self taught. its very popular in high schools around here typically the islanders and filipinos. a lot of uke stuff are in north san diego though which sort of sucks for us down here =/

Paradise Hills? Have you tried Hollywood Music, next to Seafood City on Plaza? Seriously, there's enough of y'all between National City and Lemon Grove to start another large club. There is also the Wind an Sea Uke club near PB/La Jolla. Ric
