My technical staff (My Son Mike) has been doing some reserch on the making of 1917 Ukes and he has come up with some interesting things..For instance it looks as if the joint on the lower bout was a lapped scarfe joint  ..Not the butt joint that we are used to nowadays ( makes sense considering how it's put together)..in this close up shot you can see how the seam is off centre and held together with stapels or knocked over nails...There will be more of these relevations to follow.

This a shot from the same film just before the soundboard is fitted...Note the bracings are fitted to the body first..glue job is very messy.. and the guy now has another pair of dungarees and a shirt with long sleeves..is it the same guy??? ..This film is edited a lot and several ukes were used at various stages of manufacture...Don't be fooled by the film it takes about a week using Hide glue to make a uke this way.

How many Guy's in the Film? at first I thought just one..But if you look carefully there are several.
Here are some I've spotted.
Guy 1. with twisted overall strap & rolled up sleeves.
Guy 2. Short sleeves & ring on second finger (note 45 degree chamfer on neck)
Guy 3. Button top overalls Long sleeves.
Guy 4. Chiseler with ring on third finger. ( Now on another uke.. note no chamfer on neck)
