I have a chance to pick up a baritone quite cheap, but was wondering if they can be tuned to regular low G and what strings would be best for doing that.
This is a great site especially for us noobs, increadable amount of info here! Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, I believe it's possible - but as to which strings to use, I don't know...hopefully somebody will come along with that answer but I do believe it's possible.

link and a comment...

Elderly has a G set by Aquila: http://elderly.com/accessories/names/aquila-nylgut-baritone-uke-set--ANBP.htm

I haven't used them myself... but I've heard good things. That being said, I'm really liking my bari strung dGbe (with a high d... I use a 1st string to replace the wound 4th.) It's a nice compromise that retains some of the low range of the bari but gives it a more "ukey" sound. Nice blend when played with G6 strung ukes as well. I'm not sure how many other people have tuned baris this way, but it's pretty cool sounding.

I want to turn my Baritone into a Bass Ukulele. What strings should I use?
