Sorry if this really isn't the right place to put this lol I couldn't find anything else and I'm not a beginner looking for a starter uke. I'm trying to find a good acoustic/electric tenor uke or just an acoustic and the most I want to spend is maybe 400 dollars at the very most.

I've been looking "all" day and just can't find the right one, I was given my first uke which is the only one I have Lanikai CK-C concert. But I "really" really like the sound of a tenor. I have seen the Mainland Red Cedar and I have read that a solid wood uke is usually much better than laminated? At least that's what I read.

I've found a few acoustic electronic ukes within my budget but i'm having a hard time deciding what's right to get.

lol just a few i've looked at, I wouldn't mind one with an electronic anything where I could plug into an amp but it isn't "necessary" just something that will sound good for my first tenor.

Not to dis the product, but "Mainland" does not refer to mainland USA, does it? There's kind of an implication there, if you know what I mean. I'm assuming Mainland China, right?

No I believe they're based in california, I'm not sure lol no one quote me on that but they do have very good uke's. lol It's hard for me to decide between their tenor and kala's koa tenor offered by MGM

Its based in Indiana...and there is no implication other than a basic geographical reference, unless you are biased a certain way, if you know what I mean.

oh, now to post on this actual thread...

I think you are looking in all the right places...you cannot go wrong with musicguymic or mainland ukes. You will receive quality customer service and a ukulele set up to make you fall in love

Aha yeah i'm just going to rip off this bandage and go with a mainland uke I've heard nothing but positives from them, so i'm going to get a Mainland Mahogany Ukulele silver sealed gears with either ebony or Mother of pearl buttons (which do people prefer does it change the sound in any way?) and the undersaddle pickup unless the Mi-Si pickup is good any opinions?

The Mi-Si's really cool. It's active but doesn't need batteries. It uses a capacitor instead, which needs, what, a minute in the plug I think? And then it lasts 16 hours. No worries at all. I know its' what I'm going to get whenever I get a pickup

tuners wont change sound at all...I cant speak on pickups

The kala koa tenor is laminate vs mainland's solid. I would take the solid one :)

The tuners won't change the sound at all
