Hey guys,
So I have to admit, I'm falling in love... with the ukulele :). However, my current ukulele is probably the closest thing to a toy as it can get. So, I'm thinking about purchasing my 2nd uke, but I'm having trouble deciding. I've been playing for ~ 1 month, and had my eye on these two from MGM:

and

I like both, but am having a really hard time. I like the pineapple because its cheaper and has a "funner " look to it, but the Flame Mahogany seems like a good buy as well. I'm also very open to other suggestions. I'd like to top the price off at $125ish, but I guess I could make a few exceptions :D. I also want it to be a Soprano. Thanks a bunch!!

That Flamed Mahogany is HOT. That'd be my pick!

Looks like i should start saving up a bit more :)

yeah if your going to get a lam, that flame mahog looks sharp.

:agree: If you are set on buying one of those 2, I would go with the Flamer. The pineapple is cool but IMO you get a better product (that you will enjoy playing for a longer time) with the Flame. MGM will set it up for you real nice. You should be on your way to some long nights of playing (and welcome to the Underground. I officially diagnose you with UAS...congratulations, you're sick, just like the rest of us).

Good luck with your decision!

Has anyone ever played either of the two that could tell me how they sound?

I'd go with the flame mahogany....it looks hot!!

The pineapple one should sound like the kiwi one I reviewed.

The photo is a bit more colorful than the uke is in person (they had them at my local music store). The color is much duller, and it has a matte finish.

I haven't heard the Flame Mahogany one, but it sure looks pretty. The pineapple one is a laminated mahogany too, so the sound might be similar between the two ukes. The pineapple shape might give you more volume though.

I have had excellent results with Kalas, very good value and quality for the money.

I guess it comes down to whether you want something pretty and fun looking (the cute kitschy fruit), or something pretty and more serious looking (the gorgeous wood grains).

But, either way, both are good ukes, and you can't go wrong with either. I would pick the flame, but that's because I already have a fruit.

I think I'm going to go with the flame. The way I see it is that the fun is in the playing, so I might as well get a better uke that will be fun to play then just a fun uke.
