Hi!
my wife bought a laptop and it had a webcam included just above the screen. But I cant seem to find any software for recording directly from it.

It works fine with with camchats on msn, but no external recordingprogram.

Anyone know of a good one to record video and sound?

What is the laptop and operating system?

My Acer laptop (Windows) has a recording facility tucked away in the manufacturers multimedia software. Took some finding.

You should be able to record using Windows Media Maker if you're using XP it should be under your programs list somewhere. :)

You could trie VLC Mediaplayer...

Here is a tutorial: http://www.scribd.com/doc/25400/Video-Recording-With-VLC
VLC is also a great player to figure out tabs of songs you'd like to learn, as you can play videos with half speed and sound... :)

Hmm I dont find this...
My shortcut for it is under start>All programs>accessories
I have moved my shortcuts around though so that might not be where it was originally.

If you really don't have it you can download from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx

edit: oh and it's called Windows movie maker on my machine.
