I'm looking for fun songs to play. How about everyone list their 5 favorite songs to play...

Here are mine (in no order):

1. Peter Townshed- Let my love open the door
2. Jack Johnson- Breakdown
3. Bob Marley- Wait in Vain
4. Out of my league
5. Tom Petty- Wildflowers

Any of the old school Hapa-Haole, they just sound so right on the Uke!!!!
Jimmy Buffett
Jack Johnson
Bob Marley

If I have to choose a song, when I pick up a Uke to strum it's normally "Keep Your Eyes On The Hands"

i dont think ive ever picked up my uke and not played brown eyed girl. but i love playing out of my league and cmj and first day of my life

2. Rubin & Cherise (Good Ole GD)
3. Blackberry Blossom (Ken Middletons Arrangement)
4. Buttercup (Not sure the origin...copying Julia Nunes version)
5. A whole lotta random plinking & plucking:D

I'm trying to get better at playing and singing together, which is hard to do when you're not great at either one on its own!

Anyway, most of my favourites to play/sing are not terribly interesting instrumentally, but I think they're great songs.

1. Rosie - Don Partridge
2. Ooh La La - The Faces / Ronnie Lane / Rod Stewart
3. Makin' Whoopee - Eddie Cantor / many others
4. Ain't Misbehavin' - Fats Waller / many others
5. When I'm Dead and Gone - McGuinness Flint

I play a lot of stuff I make up myself, but here are a few fav "songs" to play...

- Here comes the sun (Beatles)
- Chiquitita (Abba)
- That's Amore (Some old dude)

Fernando Sor - Opus #60 (Jamie Holding's version)
Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners - Chapman/Pritchard
Fairest Lord Jesus - Anon. German hymn
Groovy Kind of Love - The Mindbenders
All I Need is the Air that I Breathe (and to love you) - The Hollies

So far these are the only four I can get all the way through without making to many mistakes,
1. Henehene Kou Aka
2. I Kona
3. Ka Uluwehi O Ke Kai
4. Ulupalakua

It really depends on if I am playing on my own or with others.

Jamming with my girlfiend, current favourites are

1. Everybody's Talking - Harry Nilson
2. Something - George Harrison

Jamming with the uke trio I play in

3. Army - Ben Folds 5
4. Bucket - Kings of Leon (actually we play closer to the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra version)

On my own

5. Stairwell - Julia Nunes

I'm pretty new to the uke but here are a few...

"Bullet and a Target" - Citizen Cope
"Jamaican Farewell" - Harry Belafonte
"Sweet Pea" - Amos Lee
"Blowin' in the Wind" - Bob Dylan
"If You Want to Sing Out" - Cat Stevens
"Jammin'" - Bob Marley
"Drop Baby Drop"

I am also a beginner, and I just play songs I like, like a lot of cheezy 80's tunes, like:
"Eye in the Sky" - Alan Parson's Project
"Just Like Heaven" - The Cure

I also torture myself with insanely hard songs by Joss Whedon:
anything from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" that he wrote (especially the musical episode)

I like old songs a lot, I love:
"Build Me Up Buttercup" - I do the Julia Nunes version too
"All I Have to Do is Dream" - the Everly Bros

and folk-type music:
"If You Want to Sing Out" - Cat Stevens
"Hard Times Come Again No More" - Stephen Foster

and throw some random Dresden Dolls music in there.

I have weird musical tastes. I like everything.
