So, you are sitting with the girl/boy you like at the beach, picknick has ended, sun is going down, you get your ukulele out and you got ONE chance to make her fall in love with you...
Which song do you play (should be a song you are actually able to play at the moment :) )?

I think it depends on the chick, but "The First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes is always a good choice.

Elephant town.

That's how I justified my last uke purchase to the girlfriend, once she found out about it. "But doesn't Elephant Town sound a whole lot better on a KoAloha?"

If it's a boy, I'd sing, Russ, you is my woman now."

Oh! "You Are My Sunshine" is a great idea! It's easy enough for even a beginner to do, and sounds very good on a uke!

I'd play "All I have to do is dream". It is a very easy song to play which is good because I would most likely be under the influence of Rum!!:D

"White Sandy Beach" and "You are my Sunshine".
Yes, by all means, "White Sandy Beach" is one of the most romantic songs suggested. Ever heard the rest of "You Are My Sunshine"? One of the darkest songs ever written:

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried

I'll always love you and make you happy,
If you will only say the same.
But if you leave me and love another,
You'll regret it all some day

In all my dreams, dear, you seem to leave me
When I awake my poor heart pains.
So when you come back and make me happy
I'll forgive you dear, I'll take all the blame

You're kidding right? Maybe if it were Charlie Manson serenading this song to someone strapped to a dentist's chair, then maybe. Otherwise just romantic lament.

Now "Clementine", here's a scary song:

Clementine

In a cavern, in a canyon,

Excavating for a mine,

Dwelt a miner, forty-niner

And his daughter Clementine.

Oh my darling, oh my darling

Oh my darling, Clementine

Thou art lost and gone forever,

Dreadful sorry, Clementine.

Light she was and like a fairy,

And her shoes were number nine (big feet for a gal),

Herring boxes without topses

Sandals were for Clementine

CHORUS

Drove she ducklings to the water

Every morning just at nine,

Hit her foot against a splinter

Fell into the foaming brine.

CHORUS

Ruby lips above the water,

Blowing bubbles soft and fine,

But alas, I was no swimmer,

So I lost my Clementine.
CHORUS

Then the miner, forty-niner

Soon began to peak and pine,

Thought he oughter jine he daughter,

Now he's with his Clementine.

CHORUS

In my dreams she still doth haunt me,

Robed in garments soaked in brine;

Though in life I used to hug her,

Now she's dead, I draw the line.

If your dating a gal named Clementine I recommend you avoid this song. ;)

I would say Hene Hene Kou aka by Braddah Iz. Even if she doesnt know hawaiian, put a lot of emphasis on the "for you and I". You can even make up a few parts for the first two lines in the verse. If played in a slow calm mood, such a good song.

I (like thegentlesuprise) would also have to go for 'Tonight, You Belong To Me' mainly because I know my girlfriend would join in on all the harmonies.

"Stand By Me" is also good, and easy.
