I was wondering what the opinion is for this model. It would be my first uke so it doesn't have to soon heavenly or anything. But I would like it to be a durable instrument and last me a good while. So whats the consensus on the lu-21c. Also I have decided to learn the uke using the concert style body.

Welcome to UU!! I think the Lanikai LU series is a fine starter uke. I started with the soprano. My experience is that they sound pretty good for a bargain uke and are pretty durable. Here is a sound sample of mine (after 2 months of playing): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp1eDgmX3c0

Good luck in your new endeavor.

Thanks for the warm welcome! well I decided to get something totally different, I got the makala sparkle from MGM in black. It was recommended many times in a search I pulled here. I also got the f-zone clip on tuner as well. If I really decide that I like the uke that black lanikai concert that has a built in amp will probably be my next purchase.

Hi ainako. Sounds like a good choice and you'll have a lot of fun with it. I am also a fan of black instruments. I love the look of this one:

(I couldn't get the image from the page because it's in pieces, so I posted the link instead.)
