i recently picked up a set of d'addario pro arte strings. the place i bought them didn't have j71's and weren't packaged in the ukulele string package. the ones i picked up were ej44's. i know i only need the bottom 4 strings for my tenor but im not sure that the tension and size of the strings will work on my tenor.

*first is diameter in inches, 2nd is in mm. 3rd is tension in lbs. 4th is kg

d= .030, 0.76, 16.3, 7.39

g= .0416, 1.057, 12.9, 5.85

b= .0333, 0.846, 12.5, 5.67

e= .0290, 0.737, 16.4, 7.44

help!

Yea, the diameters are fine except you're using a higher tension string. The J71 set is based off the EJ46 set. The diameter and tension range is listed below.

A . . . 0.028 . . . 12.5
E . . . 0.032 . . . 9.5
C . . . 0.041 . . . 9.8
G . . . 0.029 . . . 10.3

The Pro Artes are broken down in Light, Normal, Hard & Extra Hard. Look at your original post and the 3rd set of numbers indicates the tension in pounds. The tension increases the higher you go. That would be the tension when the strings are tuned.

I've not encountered any problems using Normal and Hard tensions on both my tenors.
