Good morning to everyone. I was wondering if I could get some help from everyone. My mom's 65th birthday is next week and my family and I are throwing her a party. We are arranging for some songs to honor my mom to be performed that night.

I was wondering if there are any songs that you can suggest fo me to play that sounds good in the uke. Wind beneath my wings and song for mama by boys II men already passed through my mind. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's one :D

Beatles "When I'm 64"

When I get older, losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a Valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?

If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oooo
You'll be older too, (ah ah ah ah ah)
And if you say the word,
I could stay with you.

I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings, go for a ride.

Doing the garden, digging the weeds,
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

The first mother related songs that popped into my head was Ozzy Ousbourne's "Mamma I'm Comming Home" and Dylan's "Its Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)", but I'm afraid that won't help you much.

You could perform a tune she used to sing to you and you were a kid or maybe you can sing a song named after her or even something from her favourite artist/band.

I think she needs a new uke for her birthday. Maybe a pink dolphin bridge? You could play some songs on it, then present it to her with an instruction book and a link to UU.

I've always loved, "Thank You Mamma" by Sizzla.

All those pain and sufferin
No one knows the pressure you bare a just only you
Give you all my love oh yea

All those pain and sufferin
No one knows the pressure you bare a just only you
This is my words and my utterin

Mama I would never let you down
I'll never go away, I'll always be around
You know why you do it, such love that you found
I'm always gonna let you wear that crown
Through the roughest of times you maintain your calm
Jah was your only help While shelterin me from the storm
And when its cold you wrap me in a towel so warm
Oh ma oh ma, I'm so glad I was born

CHORUS
Thank U mama for the nine months u carried me through
All those pain and sufferin
No one knows the pressure you bare a just only you
Give you all my love oh yea
Oh Thank U mama for the nine months u carried me through
All those pain and sufferin
No one knows the pressure you bare just only you
This is my word

I'm gonna make u so proud, such good son you have
You are the one who teaches me all the good form the bad
Even when the system keeps pressurin my dad
You got high hopes, thanks be unto the most high God

CHORUS
Thank U mama for the nine months u carried me through
All those pain and sufferin
No one knows the pressure you bare a just only you
Give you all my love oh yea (oh my oh my)
Thank U mama for the nine months u carried me through
All those pain and sufferin
All my visions, aspirations I owe it all onto you
This is my words and my offering

I'm a big man now that's how things go
Things you do to survive only Jah he knows
Fiercely protecting us while watchin us grow
You been up even when its on the down low
Work so hard to see us go to school
Blisters on your fingers so they can't take us for fool
I'm here for a purpose, I'm here to rule
Most high Jah Rastafari will see us through

CHORUS
Thank U mama for the nine months u carried me through
All those pain an sufferin
No one knows the pressure you bare a just only you
Give you all my love oh yea
Thank U mama for the nine months u carried me through
All those pain an sufferin
No one knows the pressure you bare just only you
Ohhhh

Now it's my turn to make life, I'm so mature
Now I got my kids and my wife and I'm positivley sure
I'm doing fine and still can be so much more
You've prepared me for the future my love you deserve
Keeps doing your thing while others not knowing
But deep inside your heart mama you know where it was going
Can a mother lose her tender care for her child that she's been showin
Some how your star keeps glowin ow

CHORUS
Thank U mama for the nine months u carried me through
All those pain an sufferin (fades)

Thank you for the suggestions. Her favorite song is happy by Michael Jackson. I've been looking for a good version that lends to the sound of the uke. Unfortunately michael sings it so hi that it just doesn't seem to work with my baritone voice...

You can always transpose it to a different key.

How about one of these?

You raised me up..

Wind beneath my wings

Through the Years

What a wonderful world.

You are the sunshine of my life..

Because you loved me

I hate myself... I actually spent 5 minutes playing out those notes going, "Why does this sound so familiar?"
