Russ has been working on a Low G tenor Cigar Box Uke for me for a while now.

It's just a few weeks from completion, so I thought I'd post some of the pics I have received during the build here to help me bide my time waiting!

Russ starts by making the neck/fret board.

I went with the classic Sonny Daze neck/head/fret marker combo...

Here it is paired with the Box, I was able to get one of the red cedar boxes Russ had available. was very happy with that!

The next step is preparing the neck for the Headstock and butt...

I also went with the geared tuners, the arrow is pointing out where some detail will go...

Neck attached and sound holes cut. Again I went with the classic Sonny Daze F holes! When these things are collectors items, I want that classic SD look!

And the size of that box is PREFECT for a Tenor Uke, I'm also excited that this is the first Low G Ukulele Russ has made, first I'll own too!

That's all i have so far. Russ tells me that it's almost done, and now it's down to the details. I'll post more when I get em!

Thanks, I like it too, suposed to be a great box for this application.

I'm psyched!

Russ' work seems to be top knotch, so much more than bolting a neck on a box.

/me waits ... not so patiently :)

wow. That sucks. You could find a local luthier and maybe see if he/she can fix it. If not you could try to remove the neck and replace the cigar box with another.

Oh, JT - I am so sorry! That just sucks. Sucks for Russ, too - so much work, bashed by the PO.

Hey!!!!

Russ is gonna replace the top on the CBU he is making for me. I'm taking advantage of this by adding to the NightGig Theme (http://www.nightgig.com)

Here is what I came up with, what do you guys think? Haven't heard from Russ yet, but I hope he can do it. The Pic of the head stock decal is so you can see the NightGig logo.

This thread made me throw up. Those Windsor boxes are awesome and hard to find and Russ makes great instruments. Happy ending on the way I hope.
