I went to a birthday party last night. Someone was talking about ukes. My friend introduced me to a lady that has a 1951 Martin uke. I haven't seen it yet. She said she bought it new but never played it. She said it has been in its case and in new condition. I hope to take a look at it but she lives three hours drive from me.
Sure would like to tell her what its worth.

I know without seeing it it would be difficult. If its in as good of shape as she said its got to be a desirable uke??
Anyone able to help me out with an approximate value?

Thanks
Daniel

It all depends on the style and size. If the condition is really "as new", then a Style 0 soprano would go for ~$700. IIRC there are no Koa Martin ukes from that era that aren't custom, so a the other likely models would be

1M (~$1100)
2M (~$1500)
3M (~$2500)
1C Concert (~$1300)
1T Tenor (~$1600)

Familiarize yourself with these pages:

http://www.geocities.com/~ukulele/martin.html
http://www.geocities.com/~ukulele/martin2.html

And remember that the value of the uke starts to go down steeply if the condition isn't really "new".

Thank you

Sweets, thank you so much. This is just what I was hoping for. Once I Id the exact year and type I will now be able to email her a good idea what its worth.
