Have you ever wanted to try a 6-string uke but didn't want to spend the money? Now's your chance.

Uke description - Mele/Kalia 6 string concert ukulele and case. About 6 years old. Has one little nick in the binding. Frets and fretboard are in good shape. It's all solid wood, made in Mexico.

The sides look burnt from poor luthiery skillz but it doesn't effect the sound.

Video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zD-MtUbWkTo

Rules -
* Post a simple reply here (only one per member)
* Winner will be drawn out of a hat
* Contest ends Monday, November 16th, 9AM EST.
* Don't be a jerk. Only enter if you want to try it out or own one. Please don't enter if your intent is to sell the uke. If you don't like it, don't sell it, pass it on to someone else who'd like the opportunity to try one out.

Things like this make you a personal hero of mine.

I already have so many ukes, so I am not entering. I just wanted to let you know that what you have done for UU is wayyyy too cool.

I feel like I need to send you bacon and mayo.

I've been dying to try a six -string. A good friend of mine from the Islands has one that I played once when we were in college. I liked it a lot but only played it for about 2 minutes. Dying to play one on a longer term basis (if that makes sense).

And I agree with JumpingFlea, this is one of things that sets you apart from any other person in this world. It's awesome that you do things like this, just to share the love of the instrument.

Thanks Deach!!

Don't enter me either . . . just wanna pass on a very special Mahalo for what you've done to perpetuate the 'ukulele as well as the support you've provided for UU.

Hey Deach,

I'd LOVE to try a 6-string! I've never had the opportunity to even see one.

If I win, but don't like it, I'll ship it to the runner up, if you'll give me the address.

Aside: I've done a "permanent loan" recently with a fiddle I had. Couldn't get good on it, so I "lent" it to an up-coming professional. It's his---I just don't want him to just take it and sell it.

Count me in, too, please. :)

I only have one uke (a tenor) and I think it's lonely for companionship from its own kind. I would love to try a concert and the idea of six strings really intrigues me, as I've played mandolin and know how full it can sound.

Thank you, deach. :D

Amazing contest, Deach.

After watching the Uke Minutes the other day about 6 and 8 string ukuleles, I started digging around looking for sound samples.

I'd love to throw my name in the hat for a shot at the ukulele!

As others have said, if I were lucky enough to win and later find the ukulele is not for me, I promise to re-host a contest here on UU.

Your continued generosity inspires.

I love these contests where one does not need to prove that they are an amazing musician to win a great prize. Personally, I believe that contests like these keep the ukulele strong in one's heart; they prove that the ukulele is all about love, caring, happiness, and sharing... all that hippy stuff. I am glad that there are members of this forum who are so kind as to give the hope of a better instrument to some of those who are possibly unable to afford anything more than a cheap Guitar Center ukulele. I hope that the winner of this ukulele will cherish it for life, even if they eventually obtain the ukulele of their dreams, not because of the quality or sound or beauty of the instrument, but because of the reason why they have the instrument in the first place. That reason? Because someone out there was kind enough to play Santa and pass out some love in instrument form. I thank you, Deach, for this contest and hope that the winner enjoys this uke for as long as they live. Good luck to all the contestants involved, and I hereby submit my entrance into this contest!

This is awe-inspiring. I'm starting to understand why everyone on UU loves you so much, Deach. I've been dying to try a six myself, so count me in. No store I've been to in my area has stocked one (though I may be able to rectify that tomorrow, if I end up going to the "nearby" uke store as planned). If it sounds like a uke, but janglier...(i.e. a 12-string guitar, in uke form), I may just be sold.

Thanks again Deach!

Thank you, Deach. This is such a generous offer. We recently had a rare chance to try an out-of-state friend's 8-string tenor. It had an amazing sound. It is hard to find ukuleles of any type where we live. Please put our name in the hat. We'd love to try a 6-string concert. So kind of you to offer this.

This is exactly for someone in your situation. It's by no means a heirloom piece. It's a good beginner's 6-string. It's perfect for someone who has never tried one, wants to, but there is no where close to try one in a store and can't/doesn't want to spend the money.

DAAAAANGGIIITTTTT. I was really hoping I would get picked. A good friend of mine that I went to college with built his own 6 string uke and it was awesome! Ever since then, I've been dying to get my hands on one. I've played around on a couple in my local store but I really wanted the chance to spend some solid nights, playing and learning. Oh well, there's always next time. Maybe I'll have to start saving for one.

Thanks for puting on the drawing Deach, you're the man. And congrats Paul, hope you love it (and if you don't, I can provide an address to happy home for it :D)

PaulGeo, you lucky son-of-a-preacherman.

Don't worry about sound samples, just tell us how it smells.

Yea, ever since I was a little boy, I've been dying to be Deached....

Sometimes I go to sleep thinking....what would it be like to be Deached???

Man, and to be Deached with 2 extra strings!? 2 words: Heaven

You don't need to long to be deached. I like to think of it this way....

I get deached every time he "does his thing". I love that "little kid waiting for Christmas" feeling, that "I've got my ticket but the Lotto hasn't been drawn yet", anticipation, that "it's our third date and I wonder if she'll let me...." ummm.... you get the idea.

Deach gives me plenty, even if he doesn't give me anything. Thanks again to you, Deach....

Sure thing... I'll be sure to bring it to all UU functions I attend :). I plan to bring it to the San Fernando GT (http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21219) this weekend if it gets here on time.
