This site is for students of the ukulele and other lovers of music.
First and foremost are the SONGS, which have lyrics and ukulele chord diagrams of songs for both beginners and intermediate students. Tuning is GCEA, although many songs are also diagrammed for baritone tuning DGBE (click on "BAR"). In case some songs are not familiar, I have recorded simple melodies for learning many of them and playing along.

A little about me: Primarily a self taught guitarist, pursuing the ukulele for approximately six years, I have spent the last couple of years concentrating on the ukulele. Not being able to find tablature for the ukulele in the same quality and format as was (and still is) available for the guitar is the motivation behind this site. Since books containing ukulele tab were not available, I decided I would try to transcribe the songs myself and make them available for others to learn from as well.

Live ‘Ukulele (as in living with your ‘ukulele, not Live ‘Ukulele like a concert) was created by two home schooled students who can’t get enough ‘ukulele and Hawaiian music. The goal of this site is to provide free tabs and lessons to all levels of ‘ukulele players.

I have two big aims with the site:
- To make sure everyone who starts playing the ukulele keeps playing the ukulele - By making sure they have plenty to practice, the right techniques, inspiration and are hooked in to the culture.

- To make sure everyone who wants to play a musical instrument does so. - because making something is always more fun, interesting and important that consuming something someone else has made. I think a lot of people are put off music because they think they don’t have any ability. Which is why I think the uke is a great place to start. No one is intimidated by a ukulele. Everyone thinks they’ll be able to get a tune out of it. And they’re right.

Slow-Down / Pitch-Shift

Slow-down facility allows you to slow tunes down to hear more clearly what is being played. Very helpful for learning. Pitch-shift allows you to change the key of a tune.
Best Practice - Audio file slow-down and pitch-shift software. Very similar to Amazing Slow-Downer : http://download.cnet.com/BestPrDownloads - All FREE software unless stated
actic...html?tag=mncol
Audacity - Primarily a recording/editing prog, it also features speed and pitch shifting capability : http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

TAB software
TablEdit - Tab editor and player. Very flexible with great features. A fantastic learning tool. IMHO, more versatile, stable and usable than Power Tab. TablEdit is commercial software, but great value (NFI) : http://www.tabledit.com/index.shtml
TEFview - Free TableEdit viewer/player. Also a great learning tool, but doesn't allow editing of tabs : http://www.tabledit.com/tefview/
Power Tab - Free tab editor. Popular tab editing prog : http://www.power-tab.net/

Audio Recording and Editing
Audacity - Free audio recording and editing prog. If there is a "standard" free recording software, this is probably it : http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Online Tools - FREE unless stated
