StewMac sells binding with b/w/b perfling already glued on (http://www.stewmac.com/shopby/product/2018?actn=100101&xst=0&xsr=4511). In the image they give as an example, there is clearly two sets of the perfling, so I'm assuming two sets of binding have been installed, one vertical and one horizontal. Is that assumption correct?

I could be wrong but I thought this look was achieved by using the attached purfling for the strip on the side, and using a separate purfling strip for the top. It seems like it would be way too hard to match grain and mitre that edge when using two binding strips.

Exactamundo. A step channel is routed with your binding cutter. One channel for the top, another for the sides.

The only tough part is that had corner where you've got three mitered joints that all need to be perfect. That's part of why cutaways are more expensive.

You do that all with the StewMac bits and your Rigid laminate trimmer?
