Hi all,

I started a ukulele club in Cairns on the 1st of April - no joke :)
We had a huge turnout for this first meeting and I reckon it'll be even bigger next time! We had a ball!

Most people are beginners at this point in time, but at the end of the night we have an open mic type session for more advanced players or those who wish to share their skills with others. It's a conducive environment for making music, socialising, etc with a small stage, all set up and ready to go for those who wish to strut their stuff!

Meetings are held first Tuesday of every month at Tramways, the back room of the Cape York Hotel (cnr Bunda and Spence Streets) in Cairns. This is a very cosy venue with a private bar! 7.30pm start. For more info and song lists etc, www.uke.com.au

Everyone's welcome. You don't even need to have a uke or be able to play. We will lend you a uke and teach you on the spot. It's all about having fun!

So, if you are in town, make sure you join us! Or drop by and see me at Music City (55 Sheridan Street), the Far North's ukulele specialist.

Cheers,

Gaby

Hey Gaby, Welcome to the Forums!! :) I've mentioned your eBay store in a couple of posts since getting my Flea. It was great dealing with you, and that photo you sent me of the three Fleas and Flukes next to each other totally changed my mind about which colour to get, and I'm so happy with the one I've got. Thanks again for all your help, and I hope you enjoy the forums. :D

Uke Club Melbourne

There is a ukulele club in Melbourne, MUK - Melbourne Ukulele Kollective! Just Google them. They have a Yahoo group online and are the longest running club in Australia! They get together once a month I believe and host open mic nights for uke. You can find them also via their most known members/founders Azo Bell (The Old Spice Boys) and Rose Turtle Ertler (she also has a MySpace Site). There is a uke club that has just started up on the Mornington Peninsula as well.

And thank you Michelle for the kind words! I am working hard on supplying the Aussies with quality and interesting ukes! It's about time! The Mango Flea looks good on you!

Club meetings

Hello, Gabby and club members, we have recently moved to Cairns and are crazy for palm trees and Hawaiian music. Will the September meeting be on the 1st or 2nd Tuesday? Aloha Nui Loa, D and M.

Hi guys,

We meet first Tuesday of each month. More info is on www.uke.com.au

See you soon! Otherwise, find me at Music City, 55 Sheridan Street - I am there Mon-Sat.

I also started a club (with another friend/helper) in seattle some years back & its been
growing ever since! Now-a-days, I've been spending time on getting the word out on my new
ukulele book series - for beginners thru intermediate players www.pekelosbooks.com
The uke group is still going strong & always a lot of fun:)
