Tangi Tully of Tangi Ukuleles is out of the hospital now but still recovering at home. He can't talk because his broken jaw is wired shut. He has texted me and is doing much better though still a rough recovery road ahead. Those inquiring about purchasing 'ukuleles from him should be getting replies now shortly. As stated earlier due to poor economy Tangi does not have medical insurance so his expenses are expected to be substantial. If anyone wants to help contribute for his medical expenses his Paypal account is: tangiukuleles@hawaii.rr.com
He appreciates all the aloha shown. If you'd like to purchase a 'ukulele his website is: http://www.tangiukulele.com/Home_Page.html
Here's a list of his 'ukuleles on Craigslist:

Mahalo again to MGM Mike, and Dino for keeping us informed too.
Wishing Tangi a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the update, Ahnko. Let me reiterate, I can't say enough about the Tangi uke that I played. The sound was amazing. If any of you are up for another uke, you can't do much better than a Tangi, especially at these prices.

Thanks for the updates! I sure hope Tangi heals quickly! It looks like Tangi's craigslist postings are for local sale only. Does anyone know if there's any way that someone like me (living in San Francisco) could buy one of his ukuleles?

From this comment in Tangi's Koa Tenor ad "Not really interested in selling off island but will consider it if All Sales Final - no refund is acceptable. (too much hassle) " I am under the impression that he will ship but with the understanding that all sales are final. I don't think he wants to deal with refunds and warranty repairs especially since he only has a retail store now, not real shop to perform repairs.

Hmm I just started a thread about visiting Oahu in couple of days and bringing home a Hawaiian made uke. I wonder if there is any where close to the Hale Koa Hotel where I can check some Tangi ukuleles out?

Tangi's shop is very close to Waikiki and the Halekoa Hotel, I'd deal directly with him replying to his Craigslist ad and making arrangements to meet him. Best bang for the buck in a quality solid wood 'ukulele. ;)

I sent an E-mail yesterday inquiring about a ukulele, and got a reply today from Tangi. He will ship to the mainland (I'm in Houston, Texas). Price for shipping will be $45. I can understand that all sales would be considered final with the situation he is in.

He also said that E-mail is the best way to communicate with him since is jaw is wired shut.

Man, medical insurance is definitely expensive if you're in a small business like he was. Sad to hear that he was uninsured when the incident happened.

My first two ukes were Tangis. Koa soprano and Mahogany soprano, purchased in 1997, Still great ukes. Good value hawaiian-made solid-wood ukuleles.

i talked with Dean (Dino) last night. he told me hes going to sell the custom 6-string uke that Tangi made him and using the money so that Tangi can support his family.

Tangi has had such a rough year, i really am praying that 2010 will be a better year for him.

I'm so sorry to hear that! Lots of vibes heading his way.

I thought this thread could use a bump for anyone who, like me, was looking for the name of Tangi's PayPal account.

Bump again, this needs to stay on the first page :)
