Since I'm out of work and drooling over all the new Ukes I see here ever day I decided to build myself a new concert Uke. It will be birds eye maple with an ebony fret board and head stock. I plan to inlay dolphins coming out of a turquoise sea on the peg head. I want to use old looking bindings and trim to give it a retro look. My play is to leave it blond- love blond instruments.
Tomorrow I'm slabbing the wood and getting under way.
Here is a picture of the birds eye. I've had this piece for over 30 years waiting for just the right instrument.- Doug

Today I slabbed the wood and glued up the back. And lucky lucky I have a big enough piece to make not only a Concert but a Soprano too. Always wanted a matched set of Ukes and now the time has come. Cool!

Went down to the work shop and found that I have everything I need but tuners. Glad for that with no job right now. Doug
