I wondered about that, too, because it wasn't just 404/not found, it was "forbidden."

Thought my PC was on the blink there - thanks John :)

Had to do a sink full of dishes, and spend time trying to fix stuff to avoid the evil gaze of "I'm a Celebrity....Get Me Out Of Here!"...

On the plus side, I spent a very pleasant 10 minutes watching RevWill play Here Comes the Sun on two Makalas - nicely done Rev ;)

Interesting how few people actually used the downtime to actually practice/play their ukuleles.

Note: Observation from someone who thinks they would play a lot better if they used the some of time spent on UU to practice.

I thought I was banned so I just out into my workshop and finished repairing my $5 Carnival sopranino fitting the ebony violin pegs, sanding down the busted nut into a zero fret then making a new nut of of scrap plastic. I was blissfully unaware of the terrible outage! At work all day, with my computer not connected to the internet and no time to check anyway. I would have been very distressed though, if it happened while I wanted to check UU. I probably would have picked up a uke, and practiced a bit, checking back after 3 or 4 songs.

Like Rayan, I am amazed at the number of people who thought they were banned. Even worse, the vast majority of those people would have had less reason to be banned than me...

It never even occurred to me!

I pinged a couple of friends on FaceBook, tried to join the pseudo-site (work related issues kept me away from joining successfully), then sat in a corner with my thumb in my mouth and my knees drawn up to my chest, rocking back and forth humming nursery rhymes gently to myself.

In other words, except for UU not being available, it was a pretty normal day.

Me too. I'm not sure what everyone has been doing to presume that they've been banned? :p

I spent a while helping my other half complete the quests for the Pilgrims Bounty event in World of Warcraft while trying to pick out the notes for Do-Re-Mi on the ukulele. Had an amusing moment when a player from the opposing faction sat down at our table and we spent a few minutes throwing food at each other.
I'm easily entertained as you can see. ;)

I had a stroke! I'm not kidding... I had a stroke. Just got the MRI results. It was a very small one that left me with some peripheral vision loss, and if not for that, I wouldn't even know I had it. Luckily, if you can call it luck, it happened in what they described as a "non-eloquent" part of the brain. Are you kidding me??? My whole brain is "non-eloquent!" So I asked the doctor, I ask him, I says, "Will I be able to wail on the ukulele?" and he tells me, he says, "I don't see why not?" and I say, "That's awesome! Cuz before this I totally sucked!" I can't wait to pull out my Mainland and try it out!

But seriously, folkies, the important thing is; I'm still here to blab about the dangers of clear strings, spalted wood, slotted headstocks, and to otherwise terrorize the Underground!!!

Other than that it was an uneventful day that day. I had no idea the site was even down. Glad to hear nobody got banned.

I'm 52, and yep, I dodged an MFn bullet, my friend! Aspirin is key. I already take it, so maybe that helped it stay little, or as my doctor says, it's one of those freak things. Yeah, and the cellphone... gotta have the cell. But really, if it weren't for the residual vision problem, I would never have known it was what they call a "bland" stroke (no bleeding), because it never would have been checked out. I would have just thought, "whoa, I just stood up, got really dizzy and nearly passed out. That was weird," and then went about my day, apparently cursing UU for banning me, too! But I see people made, uh... use... of their time, and things seem to be back to... umm... normal...:D

Seriously, glad to hear it was minor - I hope they're taking steps to make sure that's ALL you have to deal with for many many years to come!Let's just say a new sense of urgency will find its way into my playing. They use the word "precious" to describe small things. That is the main pull of the ukulele for players and admirers alike. There is something precious about its sound and physicality that commands attention. No, I don't play any better. That unfortunately will continue to take hard work, but I do hear it differently now. Last night I caught Nora Jones on The Colbert Report, sporting a Fender Mustang, mini skirt, and a back up band, playing a great song from her new CD that was seriously lacking a uke. So I played it for her, and replayed and replayed it like a dozen times, and my flow definitely turned a corner, if you know that feeling, that "aha" moment. Now, that probably would have happened anyway, but who knows? And again, it wasn't so much technique as it was the sound that I had this little breakthrough with. Other than that it's pretty much business as usual...:nana::nana::nana:
