The Grammy's are coming!

I think it's about time Jake got his trophy this year. I know there are a lot of players with similar skills, but he's really doing a lot for the instrument worldwide. Hey, if Tia Carrere can get one (OK, she had help from Daniel Ho.)...

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin...

Well, the noms are in, but no Jake. Tia and Daniel Ho again, but not Jake. It occurs to me that the category "Best Hawaiian Music Album" doesn't really fit his transcendent music. "Best Contemporary World Music Album" is where you'll find Bela Fleck this year, but even that... "Best Contemporary Folk Album" is where Elvis Costello ended up, that might've worked... " How about "Best Improvised Jazz Solo" (that's a category? Aren't most jazz solos improvised?). "Best Instrumental Composition" is probably the best category, but he didn't make the cut.

OK, well, maybe next time. I gave up on Grammy cred when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica for Best Heavy Metal way back when!
