YouTube Videos On Other Web Sites

I did a Google of my UU username and was very surprised to see that many of the videos I have uploaded on YouTube are also on other web sites, specifically, web sites where ads are displayed. One of my videos, "Plywood Jesus", is on a website dedicated to the Huntington, West Virginia, area. This particular site has all types of ads listing restaurants and other businesses in the Huntington, West Virginia, area.

So, I guess someone figured out how to make money off of the videos we post on YouTube but we don't get in on any of that action...

I don't really care as I assume I gave YouTube the right to have my videos used in this manner when I joined up with YouTube (the small print somewhere must have said that somewhere) but...:(

Did you all out there who post videos on YouTube realize this...???

You can make it a lot harder for external sites to embed your video by going to the "Edit Video" page and clicking the "No, external sites may NOT embed and play this video" radio button. You'll find it under "Embedding."

Reminds me of this story: CLICKY

Hmm, I'm torn on this because I like to embed some of my videos in my blog. So for now I'm going to let external sites embed. I'll probably google when I get a chance and see who else might be embedding my videos.

Thanks for this info, Seeso!

By the way, if you click "Statistics and Data" on a video, it'll tell you where your views are coming from.

Yeah, that's how I found out that one of my vids was on someone's blog.

Which, by the way, I thought was awesome and flattering. I would never disable embedding. What difference does it make if someone sees my video directly on YouTube or on some other site?

wow. crazy how this stuff spreads. I just found the video I uploaded last night on a different site. As long as I get more views, I'm fine with it.

I think, it's a good thing that people can embed someone else's video in their blogs or websites. That way, you can reach out to more people, especially if a respective blogger generate a lot of traffic. The important thing is to monitor where the traffic comes from, and Youtube gives you that option under Insight.

yeah...the only problem is that you have no control who uses it. For instance I checked mine the other day and came across a site using it with extreme porno pics flanking the videos...what the heck?!

I hope I'm laughing with you on this one...Ha! Ha! Ha!...:D

I'm not laughing...well, maybe just a little but it's true...there I was just checking to see who would be using my videos  and the next thing I know there's a bunch of "bleeps" flanking my videos...I don't even know what the name of the site was...

Hi everybody, When you upload your video, youtube asks everybody whether you want "everybody" to see or have access to your video. I am of the understanding that when you click yes that you know what you are doing.

I went to unluckymom's youtube channel and in her favourites, I come across a video of doogey9 on blues turn arounds which I thought was informative, and I want to copy that to see it, and enable myself to play it back, as often as need be . (I subscribe to a 3 gig cap with my ISP, so I need to control how often and what I download) When I want to copy, the YT downloader asks me whether I am over 18, and wants my password and username.

Is this done by YT or by the proprietor of the YT channel?

What would be the reason for doing that?

Not sure on this- but when I have downloaded videos using real player that question has never been asked. Maybe try a different downloader ?
