Hi
I have been looking at the bruko website and see that you can have violin tuners instead of friction tuners as an option on their custom models.
Why would you do this?
Are they better , ie easier to tune , stay in tune longer
or is it just for cosmestic reasons
I admit I think they would look great but I prefer function to looks.

been used for hundreds of years without fail.

I use them almost exclusively lately unless geared tuners are requested.

No doubt about it, Violin tuners add style to the looks, but also when set correctly in tapered holes, violin tuners grip well. Re-stringing is much easier as well, because of the larger diameter, it doesn't take so long to wind them up. One thing to get used to is when you tune up, violin tuning pegs do not have to be moved much at all, so you have to get used to that. They are indeed different than geared tuners. I almost forgot, they are much lighter (weight) and in my opinion, add balance to the instrument, so the head end isn't so heavy.
