Hello UU'ers,

I've been searching on the forums for the answer to the question i have but i couldn't find it, so i figured to ask it here.

I have a passive pickup that i would like to install in my ukulele. the problem is that the jack isn't long enough to fit through the enforcement in the uke's body where you originally install the jack.
my question is.. is it safe to install it in a thinner part of wood just half an inch next to the enforcement, or will there be too many risks involved?

yours, Cyrion

If it is a sold wood uke,you definitely run the risk of it cracking around the hole, if not during installation then possibly later.

so your advice is to get a pu with a longer jack?

If it's a really nice uke, I'd invest the money in another pick-up.
Maybe a Mi-Si.

i just taped it to the outside, it will be temporary, but it works just fine. maybe i'll get a new pickup, or a semi-acoustic uke. i want a bigger one anyway, i have a soprano at the moment.

thanks for your advice :)
