Okay, so I'm working on another DIY uke-hybrid thing and I'm looking for a soprano neck. I have some Mahalos I can scrap for parts but I'd like something a little nicer. I think a Makala might be the cheapest way to go, if it does indeed have a nicer neck. But ideally I'd still like to spend under the $35 a new Makala would cost, especially if I only want the neck. I've been checking eBay, but I haven't found anything under that price tag that looks like it would work. So here are my questions to the forum:

1: Am I right in thinking that a Makala has a nicer neck and fingerboard?
2: Do you know of any cheap places to buy uke parts? Used is fine.

thanks,
Gio

Mainland sells necks, fretboards, bridges, and all that fun stuff!

Necks/fretboards

Reasonably priced, and better than what you'll find on the Makala (which is still better than the Mahalo). It'll take some extra work with the frets and all, but this way you don't have to buy a uke just to destroy it.

Grizzly also sells soprano uke kits and individual parts, so if you're not too picky about the quality then something from here should be adequate for your project.
