I've read some good things about Black Bear ukuleles. One-man shop in Yakima, Washington (my home state, word up!). He's had a few on ebay of late. The "Side by Side" is not my cup of tea, but I would love to try one of his regular concert models. Looks like top notch craftmanship.

I have not played any of Duane's ukes myself but I know he is one of the finer luthiers out there. I have friends who do have his ukes and they love em. He builds one of kind instruments and primarily sells them on Ebay.
