Flea Plastic Fretboard Color

I have a question about the color of the plastic fretboard on the Fleas, especially the Lava bodied ones. In some pictures, the fretboard looks black, such as this one:

In other pictures the pictures the fretboard looks like very dark brown. This picture is supposedly with a plastic fretboard.

Is it just the lighting, or do the fretboards on the Flea come in slightly different colors?

mine is black, but under a very bright light, it has a slight very very dark brown tinge.

Under most circumstances though, its black!

its definitely just the lighting.... the fretboard is also a different "plastic" than the actual body I believe or cause it has grooves..could be wrong though..
 
It's black.

To quote Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap:

Thanks all. I think it is definitely the lighting now. There must be some weird colors in the flash they used.
