The song is "Search Me, O God". I recorded a lot of takes. Each had its flaws. In the end I picked the one that seemed to have the fewest misses and the best expression.
Words: J. Edwin Orr, 1936. Orr wrote these words at a revival meeting in Ngaruawahia, New Zealand, taking less than five minutes to put them down on paper. It is a Maori tune.
Search me, O God,
And know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior,
Know my thoughts, I pray.
See if there be
Some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin
And set me free.
Lord, take my life,
And make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart
With Thy great love divine.
Take all my will,
My passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord
In me abide.
