Ever hear of a 'ukelin'?

(no, I'm not selling this, I just happened to see it on craigslist)

I've never before heard of a ukelin, but apparently it's a cross between a ukulele and a violin..... go figure...

I have one, but it's called a Vilon-Uke. I bought it at a Salvation Army for $25
 
Hey, that's pretty cool. Never seen one before but wouldn't mind trying it out.

How is that like a violin??? It looks like a dulcimer.

You see a lot of those on Ebay. I think there are a couple of YouTube videos on it. You bow the open strings along the right and left edges. I guess with the other hand you could pluck the strings down the center.

I think it was supposed to be an easy-to-learn musical instrument, and many were sold. I am not sure, but I think it's downfall was having so many strings to tune. It probably is difficult to get replacement strings. $25 -$30 is a common price for one of these.
