Does anyone know if the documentary "Heart Strings: The Story of the Kamaka Ukulele" is on DVD? I missed it when it was on PBS. Can it be viewed online? I checked PBS and I don't see it.

Thanks!

A UU member uploaded it to a server for viewing but due to the new search function I can't find the link.

I don't know if he still has it on the server or not, but the original link was http://theoks.com/stuff/HeartStrings.avi

And for old searches, I've been adding site:ukuleleunderground.com/forum into my google search to get old archives. :)

Thanks. That link was dead but is working again.

Hi Millebones

PBS used to sell it on DVD but I can't find the link. Maybe they sold out?

I don't remember how much it was but you can view it on-line (if you live in US)

Hehe... That's my neglected site... The file is still there but I was lazy and originally uploaded the file with less compatible characters like... There is supposed to be a space between "Heart" and "Strings". I think some systems/browsers/etc will drop that space and then it won't find it. Like I said, the file is still there but to make it easier, I threw up a copy with the name changed to "heartstrings.avi"

the second copy's link is... http://theoks.com/stuff/heartstrings.avi

right-click-save as onto your computer and enjoy

Like last time, I can't guarantee that the link will always be there.

Thanks for posting it!

You have to be in the US (or at least a US IP address) to be able to watch streamed US content on the internet. I had to proxy into our US servers in order to watch this on the PBS link. Glad to have a copy of this to share with my nephew who started playing the uke the same time as me. We're both going back to Hawai'i next year to buy our first "K" ukes. :)

Thanks for posting this link. Great story and well told.
