I don't seem to see any new Kamaka ukes in the usual sources online: MGM doesn't have any listed, and Elderly lists them as back ordered. Do they come in waves?

Maybe it's because they are set to release some new uke's soon? I'm just guessing, lol.

They do tend to come in waves. We have a Kamaka dealer here in IL but they get them sporadically. MGM might have some but doesn't always put them up on his site. Best to email him directly and I am sure he can tell you if he has anything available.

They sell out very quickly in most stores, even in Hawai'i. MGM might actually have some kicking around; he doesn't always post his new inventory of Kamakas on his eBay page. Bounty Music (ukes.com) and Island Bazaar (ukuleleparadise.com) sell Kamakas on their sites.

Have you contacted Kamaka? They have a Web site that says contact them for prices, etc. In the SF Bay Area, Gryphon Instruments in Palo Alto always seems to have a few Kamakas on their site. What are you looking for?

Check mgm.. I just bought a kamaka hf-2 from him and recieved it friday..he told me he doesnt really put them on his page...just give him a call and should be able to help you..

The largest selection of Kamakas I have ever seen was at Larry's Music in Kapaa, Kauai. Sam is the guy there and he has played ukes for people and taken photos of them for people in the past. I know he has a beautifully curly soprano right now and a nice pineapple, and he always has tons of Kamaka tenors. He doesn't have a website but the Youtube has his email.

The youtube is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB5CxgiRwEc (Check out those gorgeous Kamakas in the background).

Also, Uke Minutes 34: buying a ukulele filmed part there. http://ukuleleunderground.com/2009/01/10/uke-minutes-34-buying-an-ukulele/

DEFINATELY call Sam! I was there a week ago and he had at least 2 of every model (except Ohta-san) in stock. He will play them over the phone for you too.

P.S. Kamaka tries to stay away from the "on-line only" stores. They prefer to deal w/ dealers that have physical storefronts. In addition, they opened up Japan a few years back and w/ the U.S. recession, most of their ukuleles went to Japan last year. They hope to see orders pick up in the U.S. as their priority is Hawaii first, US mainland second, then the rest of the world.
