Soon I will be purchasing a National resonator ukulele. I am looking for a sharp, clear sound that best fits my favorite music genres of bluegrass, folk, and some contemporary Christian. Wood vs. metal body? maple vs. mahogany? steel vs. vintage steel? any help/input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I prefer the wood bodies in a reso uke. I own numerous National guitars in metal and wood, and one maple National uke, and blues and rags sound great. I couldn't tell you what the lordylord music prefers, probably no different than real music.

The National Ukes are beautiful instruments. I wish I can get one! But I don't understand why they are so expensive?! Is the resophonice cone very difficult to build?

Would any owners share your experience... is it worth the $$$$?
